I'm Trying to Write My Paper, I Really Am

(sigh) Here's what I did today (other than try to write this blasted paper):

I went to lunch with my super cool, brotha from anotha motha, road dawg since junior high school buddy (yeah, that was before the middle school concept caught on in Alabama), Kev. I'm really proud of him. He's going to be an M.D. in May. He really does look like he could be my brother, doesn't he? I don't get to see him that often, so it was cool to hang with him while he was in town over the break.

I also made dinner for myself without completely burning it--yippee! It was sauteed zucchini and squash, roasted red potatoes, and broiled salmon. This is officially Dinner Four of apartment living. Can't I get like a certificate or something? This is no mean feat for a previously cooking challenged girl like me. And I'm still overcoming a few hurdles. (Some of the taters came out ummm . . . a little crisp.) But deep in my heart, I do believe that we shall overcome someday.

Wow, Kevin! I haven't seen that boy since junior high school! He's going to be a doctor? I'm so proud of him! :)

joseph, why thank you! Nah, you don't want me to cook the exact same meal for you--perhaps the same meal with the potatoes taken out about 10 min earlier. lol.

amy, I know, isn't that crazy? Kev is one of the only ones I'm still really good friends with from way back when. Yup, he's going to be a doctor. I'm just chuckling remembering those times in Mrs. Frizzell's and Mr. Beltran's class!

If you hadn't made it clear that you really weren't related, I'd never have known! The meal really does look yummy. 'Course, I'm fond of crispy potatoes!

Oh My Fritos!! Mrs. Frizzell!! She forever stunted my growth in the field of Sciences! But her class was so fun...not as much fun as Mrs. Glaze, but that's just Glaze was insane.

And never forget Mrs. Danner - "Time to bring it on down people. Bring it on down."

Sigh, now I'm all nostalgic.

Jessy, I totally forgot that you too were a Baldwinite!

Kev used to joke on poor Mrs. Frizzell and say that he wished she would accidentally knock over some chemicals in the back that would pour over her hair to give her a retouch. LOL. Oh, that's awful!

I LOVED Mrs. Glaze. I remember those days of dissecting bullfrogs and I still have pictures of our trip to Dauphin Island.

And Mrs. Danner just scared me. That lady was no joke. I just kept my mouth shut and did my work in homegirl's class. And I NEVER missed turning in our little weekly current events thingy. I didn't want to be struck down by the wrath of God.

Was Kevin in our class when we had Mrs. Frizzell? Do you remember the day that we had to evacuate because there was a fire in her classroom, and we joked that she'd finally caught that messy hair of hers on fire? Hahaha.

And Mr. Beltran? That class was awesome.

Mrs. Glaze was AWESOME. I loved her.

Mrs. Danner. Wow. I forgot about her!

Oh, the memories...haha.
