The Facebook Snob: It's Not You, It's Me

Really. Don't take it the wrong way if I don't accept you as a Facebook friend. I'm admittedly a Facebook snob, and I won't confirm you as a friend unless I know you or have communicated with you in some recognizable way.

It could also be that I do know you, and for that very reason don't want you up in my Facebook business. Not that there's anything juicy to hide. (Seriously. If anything juicy were going down, I would not be posting it on no Facebook.) I just don't want you up in my grill, looking at my pictures, and don't want you to have the power to leave any asinine comments on my wall.

It's not you, it's me. Don't take it personally, m'kay?

I feel so special being your Facebook friend. I feel like I should make an Oscar-esque speech.

Funny, Muffin. :-)

I know . . . I'm such a snob. Reading back over that post, it sounds incredibly mean now.

In real life I'm actually pretty nice. It's just that maybe I had someone particular in mind whose friendship request I ignored for the second time, and I just had to get it off my chest. lol.

I have a hypothetical Facebook account. If I theoretically made a friend request, how might I fare in this purely academic, rhetorical construct?

Just goofing, Chantell. I've already been down MySpace road. I think I'm too old for it.

I've never been down MySpace road. Ever. Never have, never will. MySpace just seems more vast and insidious than Facebook. Combined with this blog, I think I have more than enough Internet exposure.

However, if you were to theoretically make a friend request, I would hypothetically accept. :-)
